Born from love

In 2008, Jimmy Castillo’s sister, Jennifer Rose Castillo, was diagnosed with cancer. Searching for ways to ease her suffering, Jimmy went deep into the science of the cannabis plant. Jennifer passed in 2010 — but the work she inspired became a lifelong mission, and a company that carries her name: Jenny’s Rose.

The science she inspired

Jenny’s Rose is the home of Jimmy Castillo’s growing portfolio of U.S. patents for cannabis extraction and formulation — including Therapeutic Cannabis Extracts (US 10,946,054) and Controlled Decarboxylation (US 11,597,712). The technology is engineered to keep the plant’s full intelligence intact, so the medicine that reaches a person is as complete, consistent, and clean as possible.

Her legacy

What began as one brother’s search to comfort his sister has become a body of patented, science-backed cannabis medicine — made to bring real relief to the people who need it. Every formulation carries her memory forward, in her name.

The patents, in plain English

A patent is the government’s formal stamp that you invented something genuinely new — and the exclusive right to it. Jenny’s Rose holds several, and the portfolio keeps growing. Stripped of the jargon, here is what they actually protect.

A gentler, smarter way to extract the plant. Most of the industry pulls cannabis apart with brute-force, one-size-fits-all methods that destroy much of what makes the plant work. Jenny’s Rose invented and patented its own extraction process, designed to keep the plant’s full intelligence intact — the whole family of compounds that work together — so more of the medicine survives the journey from field to bottle. This is the heart of our patent for Therapeutic Cannabis Extracts (US 10,946,054).

Control over a hidden but critical step. Raw cannabis has to be gently heated to “switch on” its active compounds — a step called decarboxylation. Done carelessly, it is where quality quietly disappears. We patented a way to control that step precisely (Controlled Decarboxylation, US 11,597,712), so every batch activates the same way, every time.

Using the whole plant — even the parts others throw away. Our portfolio also covers a “remainder” technology: capturing and using fractions of the plant that the rest of the industry discards as waste, so none of the medicine is lost.

From invention to medicine: our formulations

Patents on paper don’t help anyone. What matters is what they let us make. These processes are how Jenny’s Rose builds its formulations — the actual tinctures and preparations a person holds in their hand. Because every step is controlled and repeatable, the formulations are too: the same blend of compounds, the same strength, the same effect, dose after dose.

Why consistency is everything

The oldest doubt about plant medicine is simple: you never know exactly what you’re getting. One flower can be twice as strong as the last; a homemade oil can change from batch to batch. That uncertainty is fine for a hobby and unacceptable for medicine. When a parent measures a dropper for a suffering child, or someone leans on it to step away from something harsher, they have to know that this dose is exactly the same as the last one. Everything we patent serves that single promise — consistency you can trust. It is the line between a folk remedy and real medicine.

It begins in the soil

Here is the part no patent can ever cover. A cannabis plant is a living thing, and it carries everything about how it was raised — the sun, the water, the soil, and the hands that tended it. There is a real difference between a plant grown as a faceless commodity and one grown with care. We believe intention matters: that a plant raised with attention, clean inputs, and genuine love simply becomes a better plant, and a better medicine. The science perfects what the cultivation begins. We refuse to cut that corner, because the soul of the medicine takes root long before it ever reaches the lab — which is why how and where our plants are grown matters every bit as much as the technology that follows.

Patient Chronicles

In the end, none of this is proven in a patent filing. It is proven in people’s lives. Cannabis Capitol’s Patient Chronicles series tells those stories in the patients’ own words — including people whose names you’ll find throughout this site. Watch the episodes on Cannabis Capitol below, and hear Jimmy tell the story behind Jenny’s Rose in the conversation that follows.
